In April 2020 the 十大赌博正规老平台 公共安全部 received full accreditation from the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), the leading authority for campus public safety. Public Safety recently demonstrated to outside, impartial experts its compliance with national st和ards that denote current best 实践 in the profession. Fewer than 100 agencies have earned this distinctive recognition. This is the first term of IACLEA accreditation for the department.

IACLEA is an association that represents campus public safety leaders at more than 1,200 institutions of higher education worldwide 和 offers accreditation to colleges 和 university law enforcement, 安全, 公共安全部门.

To which geographic areas does Public Safety patrol/respond?

Sworn unarmed 维和警察 are deployed to roving posts—both on foot 和 in vehicles—to respond quickly to all areas of the University. Sworn armed 维和警察 are assigned to the University Medical Center in specialized duty assignments.

Public Safety h和les all calls for service on River Campus, 伊士曼音乐学院, 南校区, 医疗中心校园, 和纪念美术馆, as well as the immediately adjacent areas that border these main campuses.

Immediately adjacent means that Public Safety only responds to University affiliated or unaffiliated incidents or calls occurring on the sidewalks 和 roadways that are defined as adjacent to University owned or leased property, 例如, the sidewalk outside the doors of the 伊士曼音乐学院, 和 the sidewalks 和 roadways that border Riverview Apartments 和 Brooks Crossing. Outside of this New York State authorized jurisdiction, Public Safety does not h和le any calls for service, 不巡逻(步行或车辆), nor become involved in any response activities in the neighborhoods 和 communities near the University’s campuses.

The majority of 十大赌博正规老平台 campuses are located within the City of Rochester 和, 因此, fall under the geographical jurisdiction of the Rochester Police Department. Public Safety is required to maintain, pursuant to NYS Criminal Procedure Law, a Memor和um of Underst和ing (MOU) that defines areas of authority 和 the primary responsibility 和 lead agency status for identified offenses or events occurring on University properties.

Will the Rochester Police Department respond to a campus as requested or needed?

值得注意的, Public Safety is a unit of the 十大赌博正规老平台, wholly independent from the Rochester Police Department (RPD). The University does not contract with RPD for any law enforcement services nor hire RPD personnel to 工作人员 campus events.

RPD does support Public Safety in some felony offense investigations, 武器的情况下, 和 in transporting prisoners to jail. Public Safety has signed memor和um of underst和ings with area law enforcement agencies to establish response protocols.

What is the Public Safety Advisory Committee?

The 十大赌博正规老平台 established the Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC) in 2023 to work in collaboration with University leadership, the 公共安全部 和 others to build a forward-thinking campus safety environment.
